Is there a performance penalty for running both macOS and Windows at the same time? No. These machines have so much power now. You can choose how many resources you wish to allocate to each operating system, and Windows or Linux take up zero resources when not running. If you tell us what you want to use the machine for we can use our experience to tailor the installation perfectly to your needs.
What about Windows on the new Apple M1 silicon? We can now offer the same great bundle with Windows and Linux on ARM via Parallels (VMware coming soon). Apps must be installed from the Microsoft store, but that is good practice anyway.
Dual Booting: The ability of the computer to run both macOS and Windows, either separately or at the same time.
VMWare or Parallels: The program that allows Windows and Linux to run inside macOS, creating a “virtual” drive for your new operating system.
Virtual Installation: The installation of Windows on the Mac that means you can have both on screen at once.
Native Installation: This means you can reboot the Mac to run only Windows, so you effectively have a Windows computer with Apple hardware. This is useful for gaming or increased compatibility for programs like QuickBooks or Sage. You can have this in addition to the virtual installation for £80.
Build to Order: Machines that are non-standard configurations, they must be requested directly from Apple, and hence take longer to arrive.
Reasons to purchase
We effectively supply two machines in one, saving you time, effort, and money. You get Mac hardware and Windows software on the same machine, configured to your specific needs, as one size never fits all. All machines now come with an elegant low profile hub, that increases your SSD storage, adds 4 x USB ports, an SD Card and a Micro SD card reader. Upgraded hubs with M.2 storage, USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, 10Gbps ports and DisplayPort available.
All our machines come with a personally tailored guide, free online backup of your machine, keyboard and mouse (where applicable) and the new elegant aluminium Hub. These, like the software we install, have been carefully chosen to make your out-of-the-box experience as welcoming and as easy to use as possible. No other Mac ships with this solution.
