Is there a performance penalty for running both macOS and Windows at the same time? No. These machines have so much power now. You can choose how many resources you wish to allocate to each operating system, and Windows or Linux take up zero resources when not running. If you tell us what you want to use the machine for we can use our experience to tailor the installation perfectly to your needs.

What about Windows on the new Apple M1 silicon? We can now offer the same great bundle with Windows and Linux on ARM via UTM or Parallels (VMware coming soon). It runs just as well as it did on Intel, in some cases even better. We provide updates and support for a year after purchase for OS builds.

Glossary

​

​Dual Booting: The ability of the computer to run both macOS and Windows, either separately or at the same time.

​

UTM or Parallels: The program that allows Windows and Linux to run inside macOS, creating a “virtual” drive for your new operating system. 

​

Virtual Installation: The installation of Windows on the Mac that means you can have both on screen at once.

Build to Order: Machines that are non-standard configurations, they must be requested directly from Apple, and hence take longer to arrive.
